Coffee time

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is Australia’s largest service provider for people on the autism spectrum. We work with autistic people of all ages, delivering evidence informed solutions that are person centred, family focused, and customer driven.

They run nine autism specific schools across Australia providing special education and support to children on the autism spectrum with many of them having complex support needs. In addition, they provide a range of other services to autistic individuals and their families including diagnostic assessments, therapy, employment support, autism awareness and advisory workshops for parents, carers and professionals as well as a service for autistic adults with high support needs.

As part of Aspect Central Coast School’s work education and employment skills program, they have purchased, with support from WEF and others, a Mobile Coffee Van to operate as a small social enterprise. This will enable their autistic high school students to gain important employment skills such as Barista training, business skills, and customer service skills. The coffee van will enable them to facilitate the program on-site and there is also the opportunity to use the van in the community, for example at markets or events. Whilst the coffee van will mainly be used at Aspect Central Coast School, it can also be shared between various Aspect Schools who run a similar employment skills program.
